She grew up in a family with a clergyman father and a primary school teacher mother, alongside her three younger sisters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Philpott completed her secondary education at Galt Collegiate Institute. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree and medical training at Western University. In 1984, she obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree, and in 2012, she earned a Master\u2019s in Public Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 1984 to 1986, Jane completed a family medicine residency at the University of Ottawa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Philpott began her medical career in 1998 at Markham-Stouffville Hospital, where she worked as a family physician until 2015. The same year, she was appointed Minister of Health. The same year, Ontario Premier Doug Ford appointed her Chair of a task force aimed at connecting Ontario residents with primary care physicians within five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1986, Philpott married Paul Eric &#8220;Pep&#8221; Philpott. The couple had two children.
